Hexile puzzle one of my favorites.

By Suzi Franks

I love puzzles, my partner would say I am addicted to them, especially one that require a bit of hard work to crack them, I like a challenge:) I have all my games on my iPod touch, infact I have 10 pages of games and I play a selection of them everyday, a relaxing wind down before sleep.

Hexile is one of my favorite games, based on clearing numbers from a board in an allotted time, sounds simple..not so.

The board is randomly generated and the graphics are beautifully designed, a kind of tomb meets Indiana Jones set up. The idea is simplicity itself, you tap on the numbered hexagons in a numbered sequence, say 1, 2, 3 or 5, 6, 7 and they ‘break’ with a stone smashing sound, in the background is a unique soundtrack which blends with the stone smashing.

The soundtrack and the stone smashing depicts the rhythm of how fast or slow you break the tiles, and once in a rhythm, don’t forget you are against the clock, and can resemble a marching army on a stone walkway, really really cool effect!!

Why I love this games SO much is the fact, you are not warned of how many types of one number tile you have, so you are merrily smashing away only to find you have run out of a number...game over!!

You have to try to think ahead, this is hindered by the boards lay out, some tiles are hidden beneath others only to be revealed when you break the top tile, then you find you have a set of numbers you hadn’t bargained for..game over!!

Or you get so careful at looking for the next sequence that that timer creeps up on you and before you know it without warning...yes you’ve guessed it..game over!!

It also has some cool bonus features, but you have to work hard for these and I am not going to spoil the fun, because you don’t get a ‘how to play’ instructions with this game, you learn by trial and error, another great feature.

Each time you start a new game, even if you failed the one you were playing it generates a completely new board, so no chance of getting bored, excuse the pun!!

I hope you will try this fantastic game, if you like a challenge and ‘no rules’ game play then this is a puzzle for you:)

You don't have to read any directions? I like it already.

No this is the cool part, the only directions are the numbers must go in sequence, so if you choose 3 then to follow must either be 2 or 4..really cool brain tester:)

Sounds like a pretty cool game.

Thanks James, cool and original haven't found another that comes close:)

Thank you for sharing this game, Suzi. I've never heard of the game, so I'll do a little research.
Best wishes.
